James Cyriax (Jamie) holds a state-regulated license to offer financial services and specializes in advising senior clients on how to preserve their assets, increase their income, and reduce their taxes. He has completed multiple courses covering all aspects of financial planning, which includes investment plans, savings plans, retirement plans, and taxation issues, and is regarded as a local and regional expert in understanding financial opportunities for retirees. Most recently, he has focused on estate preservation and transfer issues. His 36-year career has distinguished him in belonging to the Presidents and Chairman’s club honors with many of his national financial vendors.
Jamie attended Virginia Commonwealth University, completing his course of study in 1970. He did advanced studies (MBA) at the University of Maryland. He has completed various courses on specific areas of financial planning to meet his continuing education objectives and requirements. They include the following courses: Tax-Qualified Long-Term Care, Senior Financial Planning process, Understanding Living Trusts, Ethics for the Insurance Professional, Annuities and Pension Plans, Estate Transfer, Gifting, Social Security and Medicare, and many more relating to senior issues. In the fall of 2025, he will complete the coveted professional designation of CEP [Certified Estate Planner]. Less than half of 1% of all professionals nationally currently hold this credential.
Jamie has also been appointed a Special Advocate for Abandoned, Abused and Neglected Children by Child Advocacy Services. He is a member of the Midlothian Rotary Club and is Chairman Emeritus of the Magnificent Midlothian Food Festival, a major fundraiser that endows 43 charities in the Richmond area. Jamie served as a consultant in the area of senior issues and Long-Term Care for the firm of Scott and Stringfellow in the Richmond area. Throughout his life, he has served in numerous positions of leadership in Scouting and is an Eagle Scout himself. In 2006, Jamie presented a unique program to select classes of juniors and seniors entitled “Empowered Through Ethics” in select local area high schools. This was sponsored by Junior Achievement of Central Virginia. Only 100 other area executives participated in this experience.
Away from work, Jamie enjoys white water rafting, snow skiing, and theater, specifically symphony and Broadway productions. His son Garrett, is the senior attorney for the West Palm Beach City Police Department
